Juicing for a healthier liver

Christmas is the perfect time to be kind to your liver. The liver is probably the most important organ in the body, when it comes to staying healthy. If your liver is not healthy then other organs like your heart, brain and kidneys suffer. We all know that high cholesterol can damage your heart, but high cholesterol problems start with the liver.
Your liver is where fats are processed and metabolised, then stored if needed for extra energy. High amounts of sugar and processed foods also damage liver function, along with excesses of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. The liver is the first contact point for toxins to be filtered out of your digestive system. Too many toxins can lead to poor liver function or Liver disease.
According to Chinese Medicine the liver is the organ ruled by the emotion of anger, so if your liver is toxic and not working well, or over loaded with fat, this can make you less tolerant, angry or just plain cranky. Tonifying or strengthening your liver can improve liver function, especially if done on a regular basis. Cutting down on foods and drinks that effect your liver can also help.
Certain herbs are very beneficial for your liver like Dandelion and St Mary’s Thistle. These are available in many liver tonics on the market at present. However prevention is always better than cure and one of the cheapest and best ways of having a healthy liver every day is to drink fresh organic juices. Juice is an amazing way of supplying life-giving enzymes, vitamins and minerals to restore and maintain a clean healthy liver.
With a healthy functioning liver life is less stressful and you will feel more energetic and happier. Be kind to your liver this festive season and have a happy and healthy Christmas.
